Trading Scalpels for Stories
I started in pre-med. Somewhere between genetics, organic chemistry, and a degree, I realized I was more interested in a different problem. Not how systems function in theory, but how people decide, act, commit, and move. That curiosity took me into journalism, then marketing, then operations, and inside the machinery of how businesses actually grow.

The Pattern Never Changed

Nebraska — Spring 2023
Fifteen years across startups, agencies, and high-growth corporate. The specifics changed. The pattern never did.
What works at one stage eventually starts working against you. Messaging goes dull. Teams start talking past each other. Smart people spend more energy fighting their own systems than using them. Growth starts to feel heavy.
I started in direct marketing, inside creative agencies where response was the only thing that mattered. That pulled me into sales and operations, and eventually into leading global operations for a real estate marketing technology company scaling across 36 states and 4 countries.
I evaluated platforms. Contributed to internal application development. Designed the business systems. Owned the communication layer that made growth possible. Stayed close to the customer experience the system was built to serve.
The thread was always the same question. Why do brand, sales, and operations fall out of sync the moment growth accelerates?

The Pull
The Pivot into Revenue Systems
In 2022, I stepped off the corporate path and built a freelance consultancy. I started with one service: copywriting. That choice was deliberate. Not because I wanted to write campaigns forever, but because messaging sits at the front of revenue, where businesses are forced to explain themselves. Starting there gave me a clear view into the entire revenue system.
I partnered with founders, agencies, and small business owners on copy, campaigns, brand messaging, and marketing systems. Positioned executives and authors to bring their IP to market. In 2023, AI entered the conversation. The messaging layer expanded. Research moved faster. Time to market collapsed. Iteration cycles tightened. The constraint is no longer output. It's coherence. When the parts of a business can move that fast, the system underneath has to be built for it.
Almost every engagement followed the same pattern. There was no clean path from effort to revenue. The problem wasn't the effort. It was the environment that effort had to survive in. I started thinking about it as a living system. A perfectly designed brand only lives as long as the system can keep its promise.
From there, I partnered with an international outsourcing and technology company on sales enablement and solutions architecture. I've now been inside the revenue system from the messaging layer, the sales layer, and the operations layer. I've seen where it breaks. The companies that grow aren't necessarily the ones with the best ideas. They're the ones where brand, sales, and operations actually talk to each other. That alignment creates velocity.
Velocity is the advantage today.

Roots
Where it comes from
I grew up on a farm. You learn early that everything connects and nothing waits. Timing decides the season. When something breaks, you fix it or you lose the day. Systems thinking wasn't a concept. It was how the work got done. I played basketball in college. The court teaches you to see more than the ball. You read space, anticipate movement, get into position before the play arrives. Coaches used to say, “Shooters, be ready.” That instinct never left. Movement is still how I think. The body keeps teaching. It shows up in my work. I see where pressure will land next. I build for what happens after the change, not just the change itself.

06 / Mindset

How I Think
Practical by Default
I take ego and assumption off the table because real impact requires it. I listen for what is not being said. I look for the constraint, not the noise. High-frequency problem solver. Pattern recognition under pressure.
Surface-level optimization does not interest me. I care about leverage. I care about coherence. I care about systems that give time back instead of consuming them.
I chase progress over perfection. Ambiguity does not stall me. When something is stuck, I find the root cause and fix the system, not the symptom.
Everyone talks about growth. I am obsessed with what sits underneath it. Growth is not about pushing harder. It is about having something underneath that holds when you do. Fix the foundation before you strap on the rocket. That is the bounce.
07 / What I'm Building
The Revenue Biome™
Design thinking, applied to how brand becomes revenue.
I'm building a practice to fix revenue systems in companies that have outgrown their original design. Revenue is a living system, not a set of disconnected parts across brand and delivery. I design the story your market sees, the flow that captures revenue, and the system that connects them. So that growth strengthens what's already working instead of breaking it. Where my attention keeps going is the industries that take care of people. Healthcare, wellness, home services. The ones growing fastest with the least infrastructure to hold it.
